Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Most famously, she is known for her part in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain as well as being the lead vocalist of Apollonia 6, a girl group. Apollonia was named a female singer and actress by Prince. Through the 1980s she was among many other artists that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress born in the city of Santa Monica, California in 1959. Her beginnings included acting as a model for television. In 1984, she was the role of the lead female in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he altered her name) and replaced Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 singing with them in the film with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter was not a huge success for the trio, however she made a greater influence as Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince after differences throughout their careers. Apollonia 6 broke up following their disagreement. In the wake of appearing in minor film (and reportedly refusing to be a part in The Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) She was part of the 1985-1986 evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. But the R&B/dance songs were not a huge hit by those who bought music. It soon disappeared. She remained active (if slightly underneath the radar) as an actress in the decade that followed, with a few film roles on television and even issued videos for exercises. Apollonia released a bilingual album in Spanish and English entitled Stay with Me in 1997. The singer returned to the university where she received her diploma in making films. She then formed her business and was employed on children's television. Apollonia Kotero has many roles. She was a former actor, singer and model. She is most famous as an actress in the role in the movie Purple Rain from 1984. Other films and TV shows include Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony and many others.
